Wonder Woman – A Surprising Emblem for Christians

*spoiler alert!

Directed by a woman and starring a woman, the 2017 Wonder Woman movie, has a surprising parallel with the Christian church. Movie goers watch the ultimate fight, as a spiritual metaphor emerges for Christians and the corporate body of Christ. A classic tale of good versus evil, Gal Gadot who plays Diana as Wonder Woman represents the god killer! She is fearless but uncertain of her identity. Ares, the fallen god of war, exhibits immense power. He professes Diana’s true identity while simultaneously makes an effort to entice her to join him on the dark side of this war. In his rage against humanity, he points out the futility of a fallen and blemished species, undeserving, weak and cruel! Diana sees what the darkness in people can do. She would be blind not to acknowledge the pain people cause each other in their greed for power and thirst for war. Nevertheless, she also feels love which proves to be more powerful. She thrusts her sword towards Ares to destroy him but it quickly disintegrates, “only a god can kill another god” Ares professes. Her weapon did not have the power, she did, “you are the god killer!” he confirms. She can’t believe what she is hearing. Is it true, is she the god killer?

This scene powerfully depicts the Christian church likened to Wonder Woman and her fight against Ares likened to our battle with the devil. Satan is always enticing, tempting, and gloating how humans hurt humans to turn us against God and each other. There is no good in him. He incites evil and we have all felt his pain. He delights in the suffering that we’ve caused each other. In doing so, he hopes to deceive us into joining his destruction: he knows his impending doom is quickly approaching. The church is powerful and strong when submitted to the holy spirit but she often forgets her identity in Christ. Jesus explained to Peter,

“upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it (Matthew 16:18).”

Jesus is the rock that the church is built and he has empowered his people to defeat the forces of darkness. Say it with me, hell will NOT prevail in your life.

The church is filled with the “god killer” who has authority over Satan’s plans and schemes. A queen remembers well, “There is a man in your kingdom who has the spirit of the holy gods in him. In the time of your father he was found to have insight and intelligence and wisdom like that of the gods (Dan 5:11).” We are filled with power, fully equipped to defeat our enemy and we need to rise up and fight the devil! Yes, some have perverted the truth of this power. They have puffed themselves up as equals to God to acquire earthly wealth and acquire a cult type following, but ignore them! This is not the purpose of our power. Jesus sent out seventy-two of his followers: they came back to him and reported,

“…Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.” Jesus replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven. I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.” Luke 10:17-20

Is there an Ares in your life who has set out to defeat you!? It is time to rise and defeat the enemy in your life. Resist the devil’s enticements. Refuse to have an identity crisis. We can do it, we are filled with the holy spirit; more powerful than any other god (little g)! Believe the word of God and trust Jesus. It is not through our own power but from the spirit of God who lives in us. Cast away those mountains in your life, Jesus said, “You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it (John 14:14)”.

WE only need to believe.  In this battle with Ares, Wonder Woman renders powerful imagery likened to the Christian empowered by the spirit of God, fully able to defeat the enemy. It is not a Christian film, it makes no claims to promote morality or meet any other Christian standard. Go see the movie!

By Faith! Hebrews 11

This is straight out of God’s Word! BY FAITH!!! No Commentary Necessary!

Hebrews Chapter 11

Faith in Action

Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. This is what the ancients were commended for.

By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.

By faith Abel brought God a better offering than Cain did. By faith he was commended as righteous, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith Abel still speaks, even though he is dead.

By faith Enoch was taken from this life, so that he did not experience death: “He could not be found, because God had taken him away.”For before he was taken, he was commended as one who pleased God. And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.

By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.

By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised landlike a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. For he was looking forward to the city with foundations, whose architect and builder is God. And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.

All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.

By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, “It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned.”  Abraham reasoned that God could even raise the dead, and so in a manner of speaking he did receive Isaac back from death.

By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau in regard to their future.

By faith Jacob, when he was dying, blessed each of Joseph’s sons, and worshiped as he leaned on the top of his staff.

By faith Joseph, when his end was near, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites from Egypt and gave instructions concerning the burial of his bones.

By faith Moses’ parents hid him for three months after he was born, because they saw he was no ordinary child, and they were not afraid of the king’s edict.

By faith Moses, when he had grown up, refused to be known as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter. He chose to be mistreated along with the people of God rather than to enjoy the fleeting pleasures of sin.  He regarded disgrace for the sake of Christ as of greater value than the treasures of Egypt, because he was looking ahead to his reward.  By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger; he persevered because he saw him who is invisible.  By faith he kept the Passover and the application of blood, so that the destroyer of the firstborn would not touch the firstborn of Israel.

By faith the people passed through the Red Sea as on dry land; but when the Egyptians tried to do so, they were drowned.

By faith the walls of Jericho fell, after the army had marched around them for seven days.

By faith the prostitute Rahab, because she welcomed the spies, was not killed with those who were disobedient.

And what more shall I say? I do not have time to tell about Gideon, Barak, Samson and Jephthah, about David and Samuel and the prophets, who through faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; who shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword;whose weakness was turned to strength; and who became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.  Women received back their dead, raised to life again. There were others who were tortured, refusing to be released so that they might gain an even better resurrection. Some faced jeers and flogging, and even chains and imprisonment. They were put to death by stoning; they were sawed in two; they were killed by the sword. They went about in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute, persecuted and mistreated—  the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, living in caves and in holes in the ground.

These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised,  since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.

Why God’s Timing is DIFFERENT than Ours

WE all struggle over matters of time. We all have the same minutes in an hour and hours in a day and days in a week Yet,

Many of us want to control the speed of time. When you’re waiting to get your first driver’s license, time isn’t fast enough. WE want time to hurry so we can grow up and then wish time would slow down while we are holding our grandchildren and getting older. Sometimes we feel we are in a race with time as the clock ticks to meet deadlines. Most of us feel like we need more time. They say time is money and we just can’t buy enough time. Meanwhile, God seems unphased by the passing of time. What gives?

I always wonder why God takes so long in answering prayers?!

And then I realized something…from God’s perspective, He is in this relationship with you for the long haul, eternity in fact. He sees that your days on this earth are a mere breath compared to the place where he’s built mansions for his servants to live. I’ve heard from people who temporarily died and saw this heavenly place report the grass never dies and the flowers sing as you walk by, but it was not their time to live there yet. For God, time is more like a togetherness that has no ending. A relationship that grows but also, will never die. If God makes a promise, He keeps it. Time is nothing compared to him keeping his word.

Did you pray for a mansion? You have one!

Have you prayed you would never age? You won’t!

Have you prayed for healing? You have it!

Whatever prayers you find your spirit crying out for have already been answered. It is just not time YET!

Why Can’t We Just All Get Along?

Here’s the simple answer, We can!! But what benefit is that to you if eternity and judgment await you apart from God? People feel really good about themselves when they seem to bridge a gap, or unite divided minds and they are even quicker to label it “love”. But I’m here to tell you, that was never God’s message nor is it his love for you.

The Christian message is not about getting along, rather it is about light vs. darkness, the children of God vs. the children of Satan, eternity spent with the creator or with the adversary, it is a message about choosing the Kingdom of Heaven or the pit of hell. It is the creators desire for you to choose his son over sin.

Jesus talked a lot about the eternal life and used parables to explain judgment that awaits every human ever created. His message was calling humanity to repentance. He warned of Hell and used extreme examples to emphasize the seriousness of his warning;

if your foot causes you to stumble, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than to have two feet and be thrown into hell and if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell”….I will show you whom you should fear: Fear him who, after your body has been killed, has authority to throw you into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear him.

Jesus went on to described this earth, your fleshly desires and the natural thoughts that come to you mind as hostile to him, awaiting judgment through fire and already condemned. He was killed for this statement,

Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6

Therefore, the Kingdom of heaven is not about liking each other, or making peace, or getting along, or acceptance. Those are the worlds terms for temporary peace and will never last. Eternity is forever. If you want to be saved, read this story from Jesus, believe his words and ask him to be born again in him! Listen to the Video Testimony below!

Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.

“How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”

Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit….

John 3:16

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Be & Do Anything You Want – Just Don’t Call it Christian

The apostasy of the Christian church reaches far and wide.

We are a generation of so called Christians that has decided to make up our own rules. We take what we want to hear and keep that, but if something does not affirm our beliefs or does not makes us feel good then we trash the rest. This is not the voice of God. It’s the voice of self love and we are being deceived.

The Old Testament is not about some mean God and then Jesus comes as the nice prophet and teacher to make you feel better. This is about a Father and his Son, a holy Kingdom with justice and righteousness as the foundation of his throne. Their power and rule forever eternal. The story of Jesus in the Bible is about a God who meets his own demands. He is so righteous that he satisfied the governing rule he placed in the universe himself. Sin equals death. God is the same, yesterday, today and forever. Sin is still sin and God will judge it accordingly.

Eternal life apart from God is called death and condemnation in hell. A place designed to take captive all sin and evil. People shrink away from a Holy God until they’ve been violated or taken over and enslaved by an act, deed, thought or by something or someone so dirty that shame smothers the life out of a soul, then… suddenly! Holiness is the sweetest embrace as it washes over them making one clean and white as snow. God you are Holy and we are so happy to be in your presence.

The God in the Old Testament and the God in the New Testament are the same. We all sin and fall short of the glory of God, and when we come to Christ, we are to be born a new of the Holy Spirit! We cannot strive in sin, we are not free when we live in or walk in it. God has not changed his mind and suddenly the sins outlined in the Bible are now embraced and free from judgment. Don’t be deceived. Get your life right before God! You are washed in the blood of Christ and he paid a high price for you to stand in righteous covering to be judged.

Psalm 89:14

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; love and faithfulness go before you.
